Meet the Northside Middle Administration

Dr. Alma Mundy

Dr. Alma Mundy, Principal

The Houston County Board of Education has named Dr. Alma Mundy as the next principal of Northside Middle School on April 18, 2023. Dr. Mundy most recently served as the Assistant Principal of Instruction.

Dr. Mundy taught in the classroom for 10 years prior to becoming an Instructional Coach. She also held this position for 10 years, five of which were at Northside Middle, before serving as the Assistant Principal of Instruction.

Dr. Mundy received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Middle Grades Education at Clark Atlanta University. While she was teaching, she earned her Master’s in Middle Grades Science and Math Education from Wesleyan College. Dr. Mundy earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Mercer University in Curriculum and Instruction. She also completed an Educational Leadership Program through Georgia College and State University.

She and her husband have three children, all of whom are products of the Houston County School District.

Dr. Mundy firmly believe in a growth mindset in which mistakes, challenges, and setbacks are embraced as opportunities to learn, grow, and develop. She envisions every student every day, having every opportunity to feel loved, inspired, and motivated to be their best as they aim for success at Northside Middle.

William Basby

Dr. William Basby, Assistant Principal

Dr. William Basby is a proud graduate of Bleckley County High School in Cochran, Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Education in Special Education from Georgia Southern University, an Education Specialist (EdS) degree in Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University, and a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. 

Dr. Basby has served students as a special education teacher, coach, and school administrator. Prior to joining Northside Middle School, he served as Assistant Principal of Discipline at Quail Run Elementary School and Centerville Elementary School. Earlier in his career, he taught at Northside High School and Bleckley County High School while coaching basketball, tennis, and football.

Dr. Basby believes positive relationships are the foundation of student success. He is committed to ensuring every student feels valued, respected, and supported while fostering a safe, inclusive learning environment through strong partnerships with families, staff, and the community.

Dr. Basby is married to his wife, Sharonda, and together they have two sons, William and Noah. Outside of school, he enjoys spending quality time with his family, attending his sons' activities, staying active, and following all sports.

Trathenia Evans

Mrs. Trathenia Evans, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Trathenia Evans is the newly appointed Assistant Principal of Instruction at Northside Middle School. Mrs. Evans most recently served as the Achievement Specialist at Peach County High School. During Mrs. Evans’s 18-year career as an educator, she has served students as a classroom teacher for 13 years, an Academic Coach for four years, and Achievement Specialist for one year.

Mrs. Evans holds a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State University, a Master of Science in Elementary Education from Troy University, and an Educational Specialist in Leadership in Educational Administration from Capella University.

Mrs. Evans is no stranger to Northside Middle School, as she served as an Instructional Coach for many years before her return. She has a great support system, her fantastic husband, and three children. “Education is my passion! I look forward to an amazing year with my Jet family!
